it work great for about 75 strikes but after that you have to sharpen it alot but beasides that it is great.....you should also carry some type of wood that is imported from germany i think that is full of verry flammable sap....so good luck

I have started ten fires with this amazing gadget. One of them only took 3 strikes. when this one is used up i am totally going to get another one.

It worked fine when I got it...then I put in my emergency kit for my canoe. The first time I NEEDED to use it the red plastic head fell off!!! Poor construction. One would have thought the bulky head would have had the metal part moulded up inside a fair distance to tollerate the striking (as it requires a very hard scrape/strike to make it work). It's only in about 1/4"!!! That is rediculous.... This one is a few years old so hopefully they have improved. To it's credit however I still got the fire going as I luckily had a pair of vice grips with me to hold on to the little stub.

I was skeptical, I saw it on Survivor Man. So I tried it. It works great. I couldn't believe it works wet. It does!!!!
